Bumblebee Identification Workshop

A basic practical hands-on search for local bumblebees foraging around the flower borders in the Botanic Garden. Learn to catch and identify them and find out about their lives and the plants that they need.

Bumblebee identification and survey workshop

Join Bumblebee Conservation Trust’s Surveys and GIS Officer Helen Dickinson, for a bumblebee identification and survey training day. Discover all about bumblebee ecology and details of the national recording scheme for bumblebees, BeeWalk.

The day will comprise of an indoor workshop session in the morning and weather permitting time outside in the afternoon putting your new identification skills into practice, catching and identifying bumblebees.

This workshop is FREE but donations to the Bumblebee Conservation Trust would be welcome to help cover out costs. This workshop is suitable for adults and older children (must be accompanied by an adult). Places are limited so booking is essential. Please use our online booking form, click here to book.

Bumblebees for Beginners

Join Katy Malone, BBCT Conservation Officer (Scotland), in identifying some of the common bumblebee species found in Aberdeenshire. The day will comprise of talks in the morning discovering more about bumblebee ecology and identification features, followed by a walk around the meadows and gardens in the afternoon to catch and examine the different bumblebee species.

This is a free event, however a suggested donation of £5 would help cover costs and support bumblebee conservation.

This event is suitable for adults and older children. Please bring clothing suitable for the weather, and a packed lunch or money to purchase food at the cafe at lunchtime.

Discover the world of bees

The Friends of Kingsbury Water Park are hosting a family friendly event discovering the world of bees! Join them at the Old Barn coffee shop and ask Bumblebee Conservation Trust volunteer Ron Rock for ideas about how you can help our pollinators, or understand how bees pollinate our crops with the Nuneaton & Atherstone Bee Keepers.

Throughout the day there will be craft activities and bug hunts for all the family to enjoy and learn a little more about the importance of our bees!
