'I was co-opted on to the Board in August 2013 and elected to the Board at the AGM on 27th November 2013. A qualified accountant with over 35 years of experience working in local government finance, I joined the Board’s Finance Committee and have been Chair of the Finance Committee since December 2014. The past 3 years have seen the Trust’s budget double to over £1 million and I have been privileged to work with an excellent Finance team and Finance Committee to continue to improve the Trust’s financial management and reporting. The past 3 years have seen my interest in bumblebees become an obsession and my interest in the conservation of bumblebees, photography (of bumblebees) and gardening (for bumblebees) have become a perfect fit! I am indebted to all the BBCT staff and fellow Board members for a stimulating and enjoyable 3 years and, if re-elected, would be delighted to serve for a further term.'
“Bumblebees are lovely little creatures - their bright stripes and gentle buzz bring colour and sound to our summer gardens. They are also very important because they pollinate our wildflowers and crops. Sadly things aren't going well and some species are threatened with extinction.
I'm really concerned by these declines and I'm pleased to support the work of the Bumblebee Conservation Trust."
