Using your skills

We are sure there are many other ways that you could support BBCT and bumblebees with your time. For example:

  • You could write to your local MP to ensure biodiversity and bumblebee conservation specifically are kept high on the political agenda.

  • Or you could establish a community garden within your local area which has information boards about bumblebees and lots of bee-friendly flowers.

  • If you are an experienced gardener, why not start your own newsletter about gardening for bumblebees and distribute it to local groups? Or become a regular contributor to our forum.

  • Are you a keen insect photographer or illustrator? If so, why not support us by adding to our image bank for new outreach and education materials.

  • Why not make your own bee-themed merchandise and sell it to raise funds for BBCT?

  • Or, you could develop movie clips for us to use on our website/in the presentations we give to local interest groups or schools. If you have skills in movie making or animation this might be the perfect option for you.

  • Or perhaps you have professional skills and would be happy for us to consult you on an ad hoc basis. For example skills in web design, marketing, PR, event planning, education, etc.

If you have other ideas then please get in touch at volunteering@bumblebeeconservation.org and we can discuss how your skills would best help to support bumblebees and the work of the BBCT. We look forward to working with you in the very near future.

“Bumblebees are one of the most endearing insect visitors to any garden. Their furry, colourful bodies and clumsy flight always raise a smile, but they also do an essential job. Without their pollination services many flowers would produce no seeds, and fruit and vegetable yields would suffer.”
