April 11th
Buzz around the Royal Botanic Gardens Edinburgh

Come along to the Royal Botanic Gardens Edinburgh (RBGE) on 11th April to discover what bumblebees make the Gardens their home. We'll be there from 11am-4pm, leading guided bumblebee safaris to allow you to get up close to bumblebees.

Guided walks will be taking place throughout the day, and are free to attend and allocated on a first-come basis. We'll also have stall with information on gardening for bees and bumblebee samples to look at. Go to the Real Life Science Studio at the John Hope Gateway to find out what time the walks are at.

Bumblebee safari at Steyning Downland, West Sussex

Sam Page from the Bumblebee Conservation Trust will be leading a guided Bumblebee Safari at Steyning Downland on Sunday 10th May from 2pm-4pm. It will be a chance to see bumblebees up close and learn more about their remarkable lives.

It is suitable for children (accompanied by adult) and dogs on leads. It is free to attend, and no booking is required.

Bumblebee safari at Mugdock Country Park

Join BBCT volunteer Shona as she guides you around the walled garden at Mugdock Country Park on Saturday 27th June. How many bees will you see? You'll be given a chance to get up close to bumblebees and learn more about these wonderful animals.

The event will run from 2.30-3.15pm. Booking is essential, via 0141 956 6586. An indoor display is available incase of bad weather.

Evening with Professor Dave Goulson

The Short-haired bumblebee project is pleased to announce an 'Evening with Professor Dave Goulson'.

The event will take place on the 4th July at the home of the Short-haired bumblebee reintroduction - RSPB Dungeness reserve.

The event will begin at 16:30 with a walk around the reserve to view the beautiful wild flower habitat and identify all bumblebees seen. The walk will be led by Prof Dave Goulson and Dr Nikki Gammans (Project Officer of the Short-haired bumblebee project) and will finish at 18:00. The walk costs £10 and we can only accommodate 30 people.

The evening talk begins at 18:30 for one hour and is followed by a cold buffet (from Marks & Spencer) and wine reception. The cost of the evening talk is £15. more...
