Bumblebee Identification Workshop - York

Dr Richard Comont from the Bumblebee Conservation Trust will be leading a course in bumblebee identification at Escrick, Yorkshire, on Saturday 5th April. The course will cover the ecology, lifecycle, anatomy and identification of the UK's commonest bumblebees, and demonstrate how to carry out out bumblebee surveys.

The event will take place at The Hollicarrs, Escrick Park Estate, Escrick, York, YO19 6ED. More information on the Hagge Woods Trust website. No special equiment is needed, but please bring appropriate footwear for going on walks, and a packed lunch.

Bee walks at Royal Botanic Gardens Edinburgh

Discover the bumblebees that can be found at Royal Botanic Gardens Edinburgh, by going on a guided walk with the Bumblebee Conservation Trust. Staff from the Trust will be there to show you the different species up close, and tell you lots of amazing facts about bumblebees. The event is suitable for all ages, but children under 12 should be accompanied by an adult. Each walk lasts about 45 minutes.

Walks at 12:30, 1:30 and 2:30pm, 13th April 2014

Attendance is free, but numbers limited and allocated on a first-come basis. Meet at the reception at the John Hope Gateway entrance of the Botanic Gardens. More information on how to reach the gardens can be found on the RBGE website.

No previous experience is needed, but wear appropriate outdoor clothes and footwear.
