Hi folks,

Found this guy in my house the other day, was pretty done in after flying against a window all morning.  I’m not really sure what species he is, I thought Bombus terrestris male or worker, but can’t be sure.  Can anyone enlighten me?

Hello

this one is definitely a female. She has pollen baskets on her hind leg. It is still a little early for males even if you are in the south of the UK.
As to species- it looks like a white-tailed bumblebee Bombus lucorum but it is more difficult to separate these from the buff-tailed based on photos- the real colour sometimes doesn’t come through.

Do upload your photos to BeeWatch and you will get identification information back within a couple of days and your data will be used to map the distribution of bumblebees.
